“French Fries” tell these pictures. Everybody loves French fries because they are simple, a little bit harmful, but tasty. These pictures hint the taste of the moment, the decay of the moment.

Melancholy, the elegant sad, timelessness.

The photographer without the need to record, nor the need to witness truth…

The photographer alien to the geography of his choice.

He is telling his Paris.

There are emotions in Paris; everything seems more dense in Paris.

The Paris in these pictures is the Paris of legends, the Paris in the old photography books. Even if everything is subject to change, emotions don’t die. Emotions from the past are as alive as emotions from today. These pictures could have been taken 40 years ago, as they tell the things that remain when everything else changes. When someone goes, does he go with all his life, all his sensations? Or are they contained in the emptiness that he leaves behind? Is time the decaying forest floor of emotions? These pictures talk of emotions, but are they the emotions of the people in the pictures?

Is the photographer an observer? Do his subjects notice him? Gökçen Zarzık walked like a phantom among these people. He hovered over the emotions in the air like a cold breeze. Nobody noticed him.
